Review: Wow - that was unexpected. The trailers made me believe that, after the battle of Los Angeles and Oblivion would be even more sad, full of action, special effects driven sci-fi blockbuster about an alien invasion - the trailers failed almost fully convey is it is that long experienced by almost as much humor as Groundhog Day. This comparisons with Harold Ramis / Bill Murray classic invite was obvious, given the time runs starting point, but I never anticipated the extent to which the equations would actually be justified and that this movie actually going to play in the same kind of comedy. Fortunately, it is best for unexpected it.Most all, the main reason why the comic during the first half of the film works so well is aspects Tom Cruises character, Major William Cage. It Easy Cruise meatiest role since his turn in Magnolia Frank TJ Mackey as; Forgot stern usual heroes poster boy: here is a very different character he plays? He really seems to enjoy the opportunity. I will not give much, but be prepared to laugh and laugh when you see a new side of Tom Cruise.Yet while not nearly as dark as the trailers suggested, is not definitely a comedy. And it is is absolutely an action-packed, special effects blockbuster directed Sci about fighting an alien invasion (the trailers have this right), though with great characters and a funny bone. Talking about the rest of the cast is also very good, especially the beautiful Emily Blunt. It seems that no matter what she does, she always comes across as genuine and real; Here is his successor in the interpretation of his character - a tough experienced soldier other soldiers refer to as a bitch full metal (no kidding!) - With just the right touch of vulnerability to it more credibility. Bill Paxton and Brendon Gleeson is always a welcome addition to any film, and while they are great (as always), the character-wise, what do you here not seen them do. As for the Sci-Fi show that the trailers promised, I am happy to report that the film offers. The fight scenes are very well orchestrated (noo blur transformer style where you can do nothing else), and there moments when the intensity of the battle reminiscent of the landing on Omaha Beach in Saving Private Ryan - without the shedding of blood, is course (after all, it's PG-13). The design of the aliens - the production design in general - is incredibly well done, but I'd be lying if I said was something innovative and new how the first Matrix was (is amazing, though) So, my verdict. With one of the most ingenious scripts (adjusted) for a unique film (mega-budget) for a long period of time and the best Tom Cruise we've seen in years, Edge of Tomorrow will to laugh and laugh almost as if your jaw drop in wonder: is what Hollywood has to take as a model for the future of exciting summer entertainment. 9 stars 10.Favorite Films: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls054200841/ |
