Review: Id never read a novel by Lee Child Jack Reacher, so I went in without any particular expectations about the image of the character. However, this film definitely lives up to expectations ANY thriller fans who would have, in my opinion! Seeing Tom Cruise as a flamboyant, charming and a bit of Scout-ish Ethan Hunt in the past, resting her to see him as someone just as ruthless and mysterious as Jason Bourne or Daniel Craigs interpretation of James Bond. Jack Reachers appeal lies in the fact that hes a larger than life figure, and the world's largest Bada # # ... this is that HES normal, fully human and very real human being, although trained and skilled soldier and a detective. Rosamund Pike does a great job as a lawyer, Helene, not far from glamorous Bond girls (one of which i am Pike plays) and Lara Croft-style action heroes that normally inhabit the action film genre. Instead shes a three-dimensional character with their own interests, fears, beliefs and flavs. One of the great things about how the film, without wavering from his narrative, but the real highlight some important issues; political debate over arms control, to legal representation for terrorists, politics surrounding actions of military personnel overseas in a corrupt political-industrial nexus ... not necessarily on the side or try to get through as the moralistic preaching. To sum up, Jack Reacher is almost slice of life piece ... although, very dark and dirty slice of life. |
